| Using a more commercial, pop-oriented
approach toward three of his vocal tunes selected from
past and present studio projects, Greg has created a
highly polished demo with the intention of shopping this
recording to publishers in the music industry.
“The idea here is to place these tunes with
already established pop vocalists so that they may take
them to the next level, commercially speaking,”
explains Federico.
The “3 Song Vocal Demo” includes “Here
We Are”, a vocal tune which was originally
recorded on Greg’s debut release, “Returning”, as
well as “Postcard”
and “A
Moment In Time”, which will be featured on
Greg’s upcoming recording “Forever Now” (targeted
for release in summer 2004).
“With these versions,” Federico
continues, “I either shortened the solo sections or
cut them out altogether so that the emphasis would be on
the vocals. In
a couple of the tunes I deleted extended endings, and in
one of them I deleted an extended intro.
I also slightly altered the instrumentation. .
.not a lot, but enough that the tunes would have their
own character while retaining their original basic
feeling.”
The
recording is an exhibition of the wonderful versatility
of several outstanding musicians:
the late Ron Velosky on electric bass; guitarist
Steve Girardi; pianist/keyboardist Eric Olsen;
percussionist Joe Mekler; multi-instrumentalist Dave
Edwards on electric bass, acoustic guitar, and vocals;
and emerging pop vocalist Rachel Panay.
Rounding out the group is composer Greg Federico
on drum kit and additional keyboards.
